The Central Workshop of the Institute is managed by the School of Mechanical Science and is equipped with state-of-the-art conventional and advanced machine tools and equipment. It provides comprehensive facilities for machining, welding, metal forming, foundry work, fitting, surface coating and advanced manufacturing.

The Machining Section is equipped with centre lathes of various capacities, horizontal and vertical milling machines, shapers and surface grinding machines. The Welding Section has facilities for arc welding, TIG and MIG welding and submerged arc welding.

The Forming Section comprises plate rolling equipment, hydraulic presses, pipe bending machines and sheet shearing machines. The Foundry Section provides mould-making and metal-casting facilities and is equipped with two muffle furnaces and a tubular vacuum furnace.

The workshop also houses a well equipped Fitting Section and a Low-Velocity Oxy-Fuel (LVOF) coating facility for advanced surface engineering applications.

The CNC Section is equipped with a CNC machining centre and CNC turn-mill centre, along with advanced manufacturing facilities such as die-sinking EDM, wire-cut EDM and a polymer 3D printer. Collectively, these facilities support teaching, training, research, development and industrial applications in modern manufacturing and mechanical engineering.
